Silicone menstrual cups are a great alternative to disposable products, and greatly reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (compared to tampons). Cups are made from 100% medical grade silicone, which is flexible and soft. When inserted correctly, the user can go about her daily activities, and not even feel the cup is there!
To insert, there are a variety of folds available. Once in place under the cervix, the cup will "pop" open, and create a light suction seal, keeping the cup in place. The stem can be trimmed to a comfortable length depending on user's preference. Cups should be emptied every 10-12 hours, depending on flow. They are easy to wash with warm water and soap, and replace. Cups should be sterilized between each cycle, by boiling in clean water for 8-10 minutes. Each cup comes with 1 pink silk storage bag.
There are two sizes available. Size small is recommended for women who have not given birth vaginally. Small measures 70 mm in length. Size large is recommended for women who have had one or more vaginal births, or women with very heavy periods.
